About Us


The American Society of Women Accountants (ASWA) is a national professional non-profit organization whose mission is to enable women in all accounting and related fields to achieve their full personal, professional and economic potential and to contribute to the future development of their profession.   

ASWA was founded in 1938 and since then, has grown to include more than 86 chapters throughout the United States with approximately 4,000 members.  Our membership has been open to men since 1974.ASWA members work at all levels of the accounting and financial professions, from individual practitioners to professionals in industry, government, and academia, as well as partners and managers in major accounting firms. The majority of our members have attained professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, CIA, and CFP.
